This is the website for the literary side of Cassendre Xavier a.k.a. Amethyste Rah, who coined the term "renaissance negresse" in 2002.
Cassendre is a Haitian-Chinese American writer and independent recording artist whose writing has been published nationally in various periodicals and anthologies.
Cassendre is also an award-winning community arts organizer who founded the Women's Writing & Spoken Word Series at Robin's Bookstore in Philadelphia in 2002. The Series ran as a twice-monthly literary event until 2006.
